Boulder Functional Medicine and Nutrition
Functional medicine is a system of healthcare that seeks to find the underlying cause of symptoms. Functional medicine often uses Western diagnostic tools like blood work, urine, stool, saliva, and hair samples, and breath tests to identify imbalances. We ask detailed questions about your health history, environmental factors, and current lifestyle. Root causes are addressed holistically through nutrition, lifestyle adjustments, herbs and supplements, exercise, mindfulness, and occasionally pharmaceuticals. I work closely with a local MD and NP who can prescribe if needed to help you get the best possible care.
Chinese Medicine is the original functional medicine. It’s been around for 3,000-5,000 years. Western allopathic care is finally getting around to looking at the body more holistically again.
You have the capacity to fully heal from anything. Your body is a self-healing miracle. My job is to identify all the things that are limiting your ability to heal and offer you solutions. No pharmaceuticals, no lifetime treatment plans, no excuses. Are you ready?
I want to work with you if you are ready to fully commit to feeling your best and taking action to do so. I want you to feel vibrant, inspired, motivated, and joyful so you can go out and love, create and be of service. Because that’s the kind of world I want to live in. I want you to feel lit up, radiant, expansive, and unshakeable.
I’m not like other functional medicine practitioners. This is functional medicine with an acute awareness of the role your mental, emotional and spiritual health plays in your overall wellness. Because while a fast food diet will make you sick, so will holding grudges or hating your job. This is functional medicine with soul. We go deep and the work is transformative. There are no superficial fixes here.

Boulder Functional Medicine Consults & Phone Consults
Functional Medicine consults include an in-depth look at your health to create a treatment plan that addresses the emotional, physical, spiritual, and environmental factors to optimal health. I take a full health history and very detailed intake. I look at tongue and pulse and do a physical exam that may include palpating for tenderness, looking at skin/hair/nails, or checking on reflexes. I review lab work and make recommendations for further testing. The treatment plan I write up will be a multi-page PDF that includes recommendations for diet, herbs, vitamins, supplements, other modalities or practitioners, exercise, lifestyle and habit changes, meditations, and more to get you back to optimal health– symptom-free and thriving! We are looking at root causes of your symptoms and using an eastern and functional medicine approach to tailor treatment specifically to your body’s chemistry.
- Functional medicine consults are not covered by insurance.
- New patient functional medicine consults are 60-minutes and require a 30-min follow up appointment to review the treatment plan.
- Functional Medicine phone consultations are available so you can get the care you need from anywhere in the world.

Boulder Functional Medicine Testing
We partner with Cyrex Lab’s leaky gut, SIBO, and food allergy testing, DUTCH Hormone Panels, Doctor’s Data Stool Tests, Celiac/Gluten and Thyroid Panels, Heavy Metals tests, and Great Plains Laboratory Stool and Urine tests to help determine the best course of treatment.
Herbs, Vitamins, and Supplements
I often recommend vitamins, supplements, and Western or Chinese herbal formulas. I always choose the highest quality products, with independent 3rd party testing and FDA approval. Herbs and supplements are allergen-free or low-allergen and do not contain heavy metals. You can feel confident you are getting the best, most therapeutic formulations from trusted companies.
Food is medicine. Everything you eat either helps or hurts your health. This can seem like an overwhelming responsibility, but it is also a tremendous opportunity. Most people have complete control over their diet. This means you can choose to promote your health every single time you eat. I believe true healing must include changes to diet and lifestyle in order to be lasting. I offer nutritional counseling with each acupuncture session. This includes advice on foods to eat for your particular constitution and symptoms. I offer weight-loss advice, eating plans for chronic disease, and nutrition advice for specific conditions like allergies, migraines, or acne.
